Dean Molitoris Receives APPA Recognition

Dean Molitoris, mechanical operations foreman in the Moravian University Department of Facilities Management, Planning and Construction, has received the certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential from APPA, the association dedicated to leadership in educational facilities. The CEFP validates the unique knowledge and competency required of an accomplished professional in the educational facilities field. “Please join me in congratulating Dean on this accomplishment,” says Chad L. Royer, assistant director of plan operations for Moravian University. “Dean pursued this credentialing on his own time via an APPA scholarship opportunity.”
The 5th Bethlehem Conference on Moravian History and Music
What better way to continue the celebration of our 275th anniversary than by attending the 5th Bethlehem Conference on Moravian History and Music to be held October 27-29. This conference explores Moravian history and music and its global impact from the 15th to the 21st centuries with a focus on the following themes:
- 275 Years of the City of Bethlehem, Its Music and History
- Moravian Encounters with Friends and Strangers

“These conferences offer remarkable breadth in scholarship,” says Heikki Lempa, professor of history. “In addition to historians and theologians, scholars of literature, art historians, education historians, musicologists, music historians, and anthropologists from all over the world will participate, indicating that the scholarship on Moravian history and music is stronger and more vibrant than ever.”
In one panel, Sarah Eyerly, assistant professor of musicology and director of the early music program at Florida State University, will present on the historic soundscape of 18th century Bethlehem, using computer software to reconstruct the soundscape. Kate Carte Engel, associate professor of religious studies at Southern Methodist University, will deliver the Moses Lecture, and Paul Peucker, faculty associate and director of the Moravian Archives, will deliver the Annual Moravian Historical Society Talk.
Registration is free for faculty, students, and staff. Go to www.moravianconferences.org for a complete program of events and to register.
