2023

Nicole Merrick ’12 and Tyler Merrick ’14 welcomed their twins, William and Lillian, on August 9, 2023.

Zachary Richard passed away on September 24, 2023.

2022

Laura Shearman Swartley '17 and her husband Craig welcomed a daughter Emersyn Elizabeth on May 17, 2022. She weighed 7 pounds and was 20 inches long.

Mary Pope passed away on July 23, 2022.

Samuel Sortino accepted the position of Network Internal Auditor with St. Luke’s University Health Network’s Internal Audit Department.

Erica Sortino accepted a position with the Nazareth Area School District as a high school mathematics teacher. She will be teaching Algebra 1 and 2.

Hilary Reis Weinert and Michael Weinert '13 welcomed a daughter, Ayla Catherine, on June 24th, 2021. She weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 21 inches long. Ayla joins her big sister, Addie. 

2021

Tom Motko and Nicole Motko ‘15 welcomed twins Liam Thomas and Luke Jameson on November 8, 2021.

Ashley Laino is so happy to announce that she is now a published author through BLKDog Publishing located in London, England. She have three full length novels out including "Forgotten Toys," "A Storm of Magic," and "Bleed Through," and "Forgotten Toys" is being optioned as an HBO mini series. Ashley would not have been able to accomplish this without the tutelage of my English professors at Moravian University and she is eternally grateful for this.

Erica Sortino and Samuel Sortino were married on July 17th, 2021 at The Church of The Assumption in Galloway, NJ. The wedding reception was held at The Seaview Dolce Hotel and many Moravian Alumni were in attendance. Some of the Alumni that were in attendance, were James Wolfe (Kuri) ‘13, Jon Diehl ‘15, Aaron Pluchinsky ‘14, Erin Dolan ‘14, John Szukis ‘14, Laura Pluchinsky (Casey) ‘14, Greg Werstler ‘15, Erin Torp (Murray) ‘15, Erica Sortino (Venuti) ‘14, Carly Reiss ‘14, Sam Sortino ‘14, Olivia Hughes (Sonnabend) ‘14, Maggie Lynn ‘86, and Katelyn Fox (Remp) ‘14.

David Burke was elevated from special officer to the rank of patrolman by the Belmar Police Department. July 2020 Jennifer Jiménez welcomed her first grandchild, Isabella Rose Lassiter, on April 22, 2020.

2020

Christopher Klump has accepted a full-time teaching position as band director at Bethlehem Catholic High School in Bethlehem, PA. In this role, he directs the marching band, concert band, string orchestra, jazz club, and pep band. He also teaches three music courses for the Arts Department.

 2019

Briana Newman '14, S'16 graduated from Moravian University in 2014 and went on to receive her Master's in Clinical Counseling from MTS in 2016. Shane Burcaw ’14 and his fiancée, Hannah Aylward, visited Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois, on November 4 to talk about disability and inclusivity. Burcaw, author of Laughing at My Nightmare, Not So Different: What You Want to Ask About Having a Disability, and Strangers Assume My Girlfriend is My Nurse, lives with spinal muscular atrophy. In 2011, he launched his blog, “Laughing at My Nightmare,” and uses humor to address his struggles. His fiancée and he have a YouTube channel called “Squirmy and Grubs,” showing their lives as an integrated couple. Burcaw also started a nonprofit organization with his cousin to help those living with muscular atrophy.
