Experience of a Lifetime

Ebony Saccento ’24

Ebony Saccento ’24 traveled abroad during two of her spring break periods at Moravian—first to Costa Rica and to Paris, France in 2024. Her only regret during her time abroad? That she didn’t couldn't stay longer to explore.

Ebony is a biology major from Easton, Pennsylvania. While in Paris, she learned about new cultures and visited historic landmarks, including Sainte-Chapelle, the Palace of Versailles, the Eiffel Tower, and Fontainebleau to see Napoleon’s chambers. She learned French greetings and phrases and compared lifestyle and economic differences between France and the U.S. She says exploring unfamiliar places helped her grow as a person and made her stronger and more independent.

“I learned that Paris is a dense cultural and artistic network. Museums, architecture, history, music, and even the town design have stories to tell and are surrounded by myths. Every part of Paris has sculptures that share their beliefs and history,” Ebony says.

Ebony received support from the Class of 1974 International Experience Endowment Fund, as well as other scholarship funds. She says she would not have been able to travel abroad without the generosity of Moravian’s supporters.

“Your belief in my endeavors and allowing me a chance to experience the cultural difference has provided me with the means to pursue opportunities that I otherwise wouldn’t have been able to consider,” she says. “I am profoundly grateful for your belief in me and for making this journey possible.”
