Ministry has been a calling for Jason Velazquez S’28 for as long as he can remember. After 25 years in ministry, he continues to be guided by a simple conviction: “I love God, I love people.”
At Moravian Theological Seminary and the School of Theology, scholarship support has given Jason the freedom to pursue that calling while furthering his education. By easing the financial burden of his studies, scholarship assistance has provided something just as valuable as financial support: mental space to focus on ministry and the people he serves.
“Scholarship support allows me to focus solely on ministry with great freedom,” Jason says.
“It’s been a huge fuel for everything that I do in ministry,” Jason says. “Thank you for your generosity, for helping me in my life. I’ll never forget it.”
His theological education is also expanding his perspective, helping him engage in deeper conversations with people whose ideologies and faith backgrounds differ from his own. He is learning that disagreement does not have to divide us—there is “room at the table” for everyone.
For Jason, the generosity of scholarship donors is more than assistance; it is encouragement and a reminder that he is on the right path.
“It’s been a huge fuel for everything that I do in ministry,” he says. “Thank you for your generosity, for helping me in my life. I’ll never forget it.”
