A New Home for Career Success

Career Success Team

“Career readiness is most impactful when it becomes part of a student’s everyday college experience—not something they begin thinking about only as graduation approaches,”

The Laurie Riley ’82 Center for Career Success returned to the Haupert Union Building (HUB) in October 2025, and it came home to a space designed to transform how students experience career development. Centrally located once again, it makes career development more visible and accessible, and the new space has opened an array of new opportunities.

Since its home in the original HUB and throughout its temporary relocation to Reeves Library during the HUB construction, the center’s mission has remained unchanged: to empower students to discover meaningful career pathways and prepare for life after graduation. But its new home has expanded what that mission can look like in practice.

The center is now intentionally designed to foster connections among students, employers, faculty, alumni, and the Career Success Team. Two dedicated interview rooms give students a professional environment for mock interviews, virtual interviews, and employer meetings, helping them build confidence as they prepare for internships, graduate school, and full-time employment.

The new center has also introduced resources that help students put their best foot forward. The Iris Air Professional Headshot Booth offers complimentary, self-service professional headshots to students, alumni, faculty, and staff. Since its launch in October, it has been used during 582 sessions by 380 unique users. This fall, the center will expand its support again with a Career Closet, providing students with free professional and business-casual attire for interviews, internships, networking events, career fairs, and other experiential learning opportunities.

Perhaps the biggest transformation, however, extends beyond the center’s walls. The HUB itself has become an extension of the Riley Center’s programming, providing dynamic spaces where students connect with employers, alumni, graduate schools, and one another. Events such as the Lehigh Valley Law School Fair and annual Etiquette Dinner have brought the Moravian community together while giving students opportunities to develop confidence and professional connections.

“Career readiness is most impactful when it becomes part of a student’s everyday college experience—not something they begin thinking about only as graduation approaches,” says the Career Success Team. “Being located in the HUB allows the Riley Center to meet students where they already are. Whether they’re studying between classes, grabbing lunch, attending campus events, or meeting friends, students pass by the Center Career Success Team every day. Those spontaneous interactions often become conversations about internships, networking, graduate school, career exploration, or simply taking the first step toward an exciting future.”

That accessibility is reflected in the center’s impact. During 2025–2026, the Riley Center provided 1,485 individual coaching appointments, served 847 unique students through one-on-one coaching, engaged 1,304 unique students through career programs and events, and achieved an 87 percent undergraduate Handshake engagement rate.

Most importantly, students say they feel the difference. One student shared, “Although I was nervous to make appointments and meet with my team because I felt behind or not qualified, the team made me so comfortable... each visit was reassuring of my abilities as a student and future employee.”

Another shared, “The Career Success Team has helped me feel significantly more prepared and less overwhelmed when thinking about my future.”

As the world of work evolves, so will the Riley Center. New initiatives, experiential learning opportunities, AI-focused resources, and the Career Closet will continue expanding the ways students prepare for what comes next. Its 2026 Career Readiness Excellence Award from the National Association of Colleges and Employers offers national recognition of that innovative approach.

In its new home, career success has become more than a destination. It is a visible, accessible, and integral part of the Moravian experience, helping every student build confidence, develop career-ready skills, and graduate prepared to lead with purpose.
