The Moravian University Golf Program has had very successful fall seasons so far. Our men’s program won the Elizabethtown Fall Invite and Makuvek Cup for the 11th straight season. We also finished 2nd in the other 2 events that we played in so far. The men also have had two individual medalist winners in events. Sophomore Austin Fulton won the Makuvek Cup with a score of -3 (69). Freshman Zach Miller finished T-1 and shot an E (71) at the Elizabethtown Tournament in a field of 60 players. The men’s program is young and talented, which is why the future for the program is very bright. Out of the 14 men on our roster, only 1 of them is out of eligibility after this year. Our scoring average this year so far is much lower than last year and we are only just scratching the surface of our potential.
The women’s program has had a great start to the season so far this Fall as well, logging one tournament win and a medalist finish as well. Our women broke the program record for best team score in the Dickinson Invitational. In addition to the team success, junior Heidi Wegscheider is off to an incredible start this season. She has logged one medalist finish, as well as a pair of 2nd place finishes in tournament fields with multiple Division 2 teams. Every player on the women’s roster is currently averaging under their career average as well.
Returning this year: Moravian Golf will be running our golf league this winter again! Starting in the beginning of December, we will be hosting a weekly indoor simulator league in the Reinhard Golf Simulator Suite where we have a Trackman 4 along with a great list of different courses to play. The format for the league will depend on how many registrants we receive, and would most likely include being paired up with two or three alumni golfers each week. Give a donation of $250+ during the Athletics Giving Challenge and you will have the opportunity to join the league. The league will take place Wednesday evenings over six weeks throughout December and January (holiday weeks will be off). This is a great opportunity to meet fellow Greyhounds and enjoy some of the great facilities that our program is able to use due to the generosity of our alumni and donors.
Your contributions to the Moravian Golf Program will help provide the support our athletes need to continue to push themselves to be the best golfers they can be. In order for us to provide our team with the highest of experiences, we try to compete in bigger tournaments with better competition that are hosted at top courses, and with your help this is all possible. Whether it is a Spring Break trip down to our first ever home tournament in Myrtle Beach or a two-day tournament in western Pennsylvania at Bedford Springs, your contributions help to make these trips and lifelong experiences attainable.
