Opportunities for Strategic Partnerships

Moravian recently launched the Office of University Partnerships (UP), with a mission to “provide customized education solutions that encourage rich reciprocity in the spirit of growth.” UP works with internal and external partners to develop unique programs that provide valuable opportunities to all stakeholders.

While the opportunity for collaboration is boundless,
one constant for success is bringing faculty, staff,
alumni, external partners, and the community together in collaboration. One recent win was made possible by the support of the Center for Career and Civic Engagement and faculty in the computer science and economics and business departments. Katie P. Desiderio, assistant vice president of corporate-educational partnerships, and Dylan Runne ’16, founder and managing partner of e-commerce solutions firm Fenom Digital, laid the groundwork to launch an e-commerce-systems training program exclusively for Moravian students. The inaugural program accepted 13 interns in computer science and business for a semester of lecture-based learning and hands-on projects.

To provide high-impact practice and research opportunities, UP established a partnership with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation. This led to Jeff Bush, assistant professor of computer science, and Sara E. Benham, assistant professor of occupational therapy, teaming up with occupational therapy students to leverage 3D printing to design and build assistive devices for patients. This work will fuel ongoing research, teaching, and practice with the new hospital opening in 2023.
