Join our 2026 Lenten Study Book Club

Moravian University School of Theology invites you to join a FREE Lenten Study Book Club exploring “For Such a Time as This,” a powerful devotional by Dr. Hanna Reichel, the Charles Hodge Professor of Systematic Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary.

About the Author

Dr. Reichel is an ecumenical Lutheran who serves as a ruling elder in the PC(USA) and on the Theology Working Group of the World Communion of Reformed Churches. Their award-winning work — including the Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise — has been featured in The Atlantic, Leading Theologically, and Homebrewed Christianity.

Program Details

The 2026 Lenten season runs from Ash Wednesday (Feb. 18) through Easter Sunday (April 5). Our FREE six-week book club study features daily readings from the text, weekly video reflections from Dr. Reichel, and guided discussion questions

Weekly Gatherings

Join us Wednesdays, 1–2 p.m. in person (Lancaster or Bethlehem campus) or via Zoom. Gatherings hosted by Rev. Dr. Chynaah Maryoung-Cooke, Dr. Michael Toy, and Rev. Dr. Lindsey Scott

Special Author Event March 6

Feb. 18 - Preparation Week: Getting Started

  • Before Meeting: Read the Introduction to the book. Watch the Introductory Video.

  • At Book Club: Follow the Discussion Guide for Week 1.

  • Focus: Group Launch and Get-to-Know-You. 

Feb. 25 - Part One: Prepare Yourself

  • Before Meeting: Read Part 1 of the book.

  • At Book Club: Watch the "Week 1" Video. Follow the Discussion Guide for Week 2.

  • Focus: Sharing our burdens and finding peace.

March 4 - Part Two: Hear the Word

  • Before Meeting: Read Part 2 of the book.

  • At Book Club: Watch the "Week 2" Video. Follow the Discussion Guide for Week 3.

  • Focus: The discussion should focus on Part 3, but plan to attend the Lecture with Professor Reichel on Friday, March 6 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Register: Be sure to register for the event!

March 11 - Part Three: Become What You Have Received

  • Before Meeting: Read Part 3 of the book.

  • At Book Club: Watch the "Week 3" Video. Follow the Discussion Guide for Week 4.

  • Focus: Community. Check in about Lenten experience and commitments now that the study is halfway through.

March 18 - Part Four: Go Into the World

  • Before Meeting: Read Part 4 of the book.

  • At Book Club: Watch the "Week 4" Video. Follow the Discussion Guide for Week 5.

  • Focus: Compromise and nonconformity. 

March 25 - Reflection

  • Before Meeting: No reading this week.

  • Focus:  Share key takeaways from the entire book and group experience.
