Moravian University Media Relations Protocol

All communications and formal contact from the media must be referred to the Public Relations Office. 

In those instances when a member of the press contacts an employee of the University, the individual should be referred to the Office of Marketing and Communications. Mike Corr, Director of Marketing and Communications, will contact the reporter to discuss the issues involved, and then contact the appropriate individual(s) at the University to prepare a response.

Those communications dealing with either institutional policy or substantial infrastructure improvements must be approved by the president. 

The Office of Marketing and Communications will inform the president; who will vet the college’s response through the senior staff and, when possible, and provide the response to the press in written form via Mike Corr, spokesperson.

The Office of Marketing and Communications will release routine press notices concerning the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and students. 

Information regarding the news and events, athletics, and other college business shall be disseminated to the media through the Office of Marketing and Communications. Mark Fleming, director of sports information, releases athletics news and Mike Corr, Director of Marketing and Communications, releases all non-sports related news.

Formulating position/policy statements in anticipation of activities with potential to attract news media attention.

Employees of the college who are privy to situations/information that may invoke an inquiry from the media or are in a position to assist the college strategically with media relations should contact Mike Corr or Mark Fleming. The Office of Marketing and Communications will inform the president; who will vet the college’s response through the senior staff and, when possible, and provide the response to the press in written form via Mike Corr, spokesperson.

Line of Communication for Media Relations 

  1. Mike Corr, Director of Marketing and Communications, serves as the college spokesperson and is responsible for all non-athletics news and information. He is available at all times at (610) 861-1365.
  2. Mark Fleming, Director of Sports Information is responsible for all athletics news and information. He provides back-up for Mike Corr when needed. He can be reached in the office at (610) 861-1472 or via cell phone at (610) 390-7545 or at home (610) 758-8721.
  3. Special Circumstances - In the event that both Mike Corr and Mark Fleming cannot be reached, contact Gary Carney, vice-president for institutional advancement at 610 861-1336 who will contact the president’s office and the appropriate vice-president(s).
