Allan S. Meck Award
Rev. George Robertson L’93 is a 1993 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary. After graduation, he was called to serve Faith United Church of Christ in Grantville, PA, where he was ordained on June 6, 1993, and has served ever since. He earned his undergraduate degree in Religion and Philosophy from Catawba College in 1985. Before seminary, he lived in Costa Rica, where he met his wife, Giselle, and started a family.
As the sole pastor of Faith UCC, George is involved in all aspects of ministry, with a particular passion for teaching, worship, preaching, and pastoral care. His interests include theology and church history.
He has also been active in the wider church, serving on the Committee on Ministry of the Harrisburg Association, the Board of Directors of the former Penn Central Conference, and the Congregational Vitality initiative. Locally, he has been a key leader in the Grantville Ministerium, a partnership of four churches that worship together and host community events like the CROP Walk.
In 1999, George founded the Grantville Area Food Pantry at Faith UCC, where he continues to serve as director. The pantry has grown into a community-wide ministry, now serving nearly 75 families each week with food, meals, and support services. In 2010, the church expanded to increase its capacity, and in August 2025, the congregation celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Grantville Nursery School, a ministry of Faith UCC.
George credits his mentors at Catawba College, Lancaster Theological Seminary, and the Mercersburg Association, along with the congregation of Faith UCC, for their lasting support and inspiration.
Robert V. Moss Award
Rev. Drew Willard L’88 is a retired pastor who served churches in Connecticut and Florida. He had a circuitous route to ordination
with the United Church of Christ in 1996, but all along his ministry was characterized by art (drawing and illustration) and Biblical storytelling, as well as a commitment to ecumenical and interfaith outreach.
A graduate of West Point, he served overseas with the US Army in Germany and Korea, he felt the call to ministry and left active duty to go to Lancaster Theological Seminary, graduating in 1988 with an MDiv. Drew did not go into ministry right away, but worked as a substitute teacher in public schools, a recreation therapist at a state psychiatric hospital in NJ, as a religion intern at a private school, and as a youth minister for Ft Monmouth, US Army, in NJ.
Since retirement in 2019, he has worked as a supply preacher - with a special emphasis on Biblical storytelling, preaching a "lectionary" based on the Gospel stories he has been telling for 40 years as an intentional effort to encourage congregations to: "Know your narrative so you can listen with patience, question civilly, and most importantly, stay engaged."
