Tutor Expectations

Greyhound Tutor expectations and requirements are set in part by the University Reading and Learning Association (CRLA). Please review the Greyhound Tutor Handbook for more information.

Requirements to Tutor

  • Nomination by a faculty/instructor
  • Overall GPA of 3.0
  • Demonstrated overall academic ability
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance study skills relevant to tutored course
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Short interview and mock tutoring session with the Academic Support Center

Expectations of Tutors

  • Respond to office communication as quickly as possible.
  • Show up to each tutor session on time and prepared to assist.
  • Thoroughly complete a progress report after each lesson. 
  • Stay in contact with the professors who teach the courses you are tutoring; they are invaluable resources that can help you explain concepts in different ways.
  • Get involved with the program! Come to the biweekly meetings with positive energy and an open mind.
  • SET BOUNDARIES for yourself. Stick to your schedule, even if a student is begging for help. If you cannot assist them, please reach out to wilsond@moravian.edu.
  • Complete your timesheet by Friday evening. All timesheets much match your progress reports.
