Travel Experience

Masters of Occupational Therapy & Masters of Speech-Language Pathology in Ecuador

Approximate Travel Dates: August 15 to August 24, 2024

Students will travel to Ecuador for ten days and work with the Crecer Foundation in Ibarra to provide Occupational and Speech-Lanugage Therapy services to children and adults in the local community. Students will learn about the people and culture of Ecuador, with the opportunity to explore the capital, Quito, the cloud forest, and highland areas.

Cost

  • Program Fee:  $1,775
  • Airfare & Transportation: $1,200
  • Self-Pay Total Cost:  $2,975
  • Elevate Total Cost:  Not open to Elevate-eligible undergraduate students
  • For all travelers:
    • Insurance Fee:  $75 charged directly to your Student Account
    • Recommended for Personal Funds: $200
    • Tuition: None.

  • Eligibility:  3.0 GPA or higher, Graduate OT or SLP student, ability to walk 3-4 miles per day, attend info session, attend virtual planning sessions during the spring and summer sessions preceding the trip. 
  • Language:  English (An understanding of Spanish will help, but is not required)
