Penn State Abington Pathway Program at Moravian University
The Penn State Abington Pathway Program at Moravian University offers Penn State Abington undergraduate students the opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degree at Penn State Abington while also earning credits toward a Master of Arts degree in Counseling. Program Description
Moravian University offers Penn State Abington undergraduate students, who are in the Bachelor of Science degree programs in Rehabilitation and Human Services (RHS) and/or Psychological and Social Sciences (PSS), a pathway to Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Counseling (MACC) or School Counseling (MASC) at Moravian University.
How it Works
Qualified Penn State Abington RHS and PSS undergraduate students are eligible to take up to 15 credits in MACC or MASC master-level coursework for free at Moravian! These 15 credits may only be used toward the satisfaction of a MACC or MASC graduate degree from Moravian University's School of Behavioral and Community Health. While in the Pathway Program, students may take two MACC or MASC classes in the summer semester, one in the fall semester, and one in the spring semester, up to the 15-credit maximum.
*Graduate coursework in this program is non-transferable for use at another graduate program or for satisfaction of the undergraduate degree requirements at Penn State Abington.
Who Can Apply?
Penn State Abington RHS and PSS students may apply to the MACC or MASC Pathway Program at Moravian University starting in the spring of their sophomore year if they have completed 45-60 credits and up to any point before the second semester of their senior year if they have completed up to 120 credits. Qualified PSA students must have declared their major in RHS or PSS, have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, and be in good standing with Penn State Abington to apply.
Application Process
Interested students should complete the Penn State Abington Interest Form to connect with their RHS and PSS Program Chairs who will verify eligibility to officially apply, and if appropriate, will provide the student with a recommendation to the Pathway Program. Penn State Abington RHS and PSS Program Chairs will then direct qualified applicants to complete the online graduate application through Moravian University’s Graduate Application Portal.
The Pathway Program application must include:
- Penn State Abington official undergraduate transcript
- Applicant’s admissions essay
- Applicant’s resume
- Moravian Student Consent Form signed by the applicant
- Letter of recommendation from applicant’s PSA or RHS Program Chair
Completed applications will be reviewed by the MACC/MASC Program Director at Moravian University. Qualified applicants will be offered an interview to determine entrance to the Pathway Program.
*There is no application fee and the GRE is not required to apply.
Curriculum
Once students have completed their undergraduate degree from Penn State Abington, they are eligible to begin their MACC or MASC degree full-time or part-time at Moravian University as graduate students during the next semester. Students in the MACC and MASC programs must complete 60 credits and 700 hours of supervised clinical experience.

The MACC and MASC programs at Moravian University welcome people of all beliefs and viewpoints. Students in these programs gain the evidence-based skills and knowledge needed to ethically engage in the practice of clinical and school counseling with an emphasis on service delivery to diverse populations in a wide variety of community and school settings. These master's programs train students to cultivate the academic skills and self-awareness necessary to be effective, multiculturally competent counselors and lead graduates to become Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs).
