Nurturing and prioritizing your mental well-being and psychological health can pave the way to a smoother experience in college. Self-care practices and stress management techniques are key strategies for college students to effectively maintain their mental well-being. Self-care and stress management are related concepts, but they involve different approaches and focus on distinct aspects of well-being.

Self-care refers to intentional actions and practices that individuals engage in to prioritize and enhance their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Self-care is not solely reactive to stress; rather it is a proactive approach and ongoing commitment to taking care of one's self.

Stress management, on the other hand, specifically addresses the techniques and strategies individuals use to cope with and reduce stress. Stress is a natural response to challenges or changes, and effective stress management involves developing skills to handle stressors in a healthy way.  These strategies are often employed reactively, in response to stressors, with the goal of mitigating the negative impact of stress on mental and physical well-being.
