Student Spotlight

"There are no words to adequately express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for your extreme generosity and kindness. It is because of you that I am able to better myself by furthering my education at Moravian University."
Miranda is a junior accounting major who hails from Bethlehem. Her plans post-graduation from Moravian are to sit for the CPA exam and get her MBA. While a student at Moravian, she works part-time in the Office of Financial Aid. Miranda is a recipient of the Barnette Scholarship Fund at Moravian University, established by Board of Trustee member Curtis H. Barnette H’02 and his wife, Joanne. The fund seeks to provide financial support for a student from West Virginia or a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem.
Something learned at Moravian: I have learned so much since becoming a student at Moravian, both academically and within my personal life. One specific thing I have learned is how to better manage my time.
Most rewarding since coming to Moravian: Completing classes is the most rewarding experience. All classes are challenging but making it through always makes me happy.
Favorite Moravian tradition: Homecoming
Favorite thing to do when away from campus: Spend time with my family and friends.
Favorite book, film, song, or art: My favorite book is "Where Men Win Glory," by Jon Krakauer. I read this book in school during my senior year of high school, and I found the story so inspiring. It helped me learn what the true definition of a hero is.
I can never resist a good____: book
Who inspires you: My parents inspire me. They are both the most hard-working and selfless people. They support me in everything I do and push me to be the best version of myself. I am lucky to have such great role models in my life.
What the scholarship means to me: This scholarship means so much to me. I am a first-generation college student and am paying for my education myself. The aid I receive from this scholarship gives me the opportunity to better myself by continuing my education. I am so appreciative!
