IT Infrastructure

The IT department supports phone, internet, cloud storage, email, and information security, among other digital infrastructure related items. 

Phone System Quick Links

G Suite for Education

  • Moravian students, faculty, and staff have access to a suite of Google applications, including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google SharedDrive (formerly Team Drive)
  • Students: Google Drive should be used to store documents. Documents stored on your student laptop may not be backed up and can be lost if your laptop fails.
  • Google Drive Tips: 
    • You can organize by year, course, function or a combination of both (e.g. freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, sub-folders for BIO10, LINC100, registration info, housing info, personal, jobs, resume)
    • You can scan directly to Google Drive from the Reeves Library multi-function device (located around the corner from Circulation Desk).
  • Global Emails:
    • Restrictions are in place to limit who can send email to lists of campus e-mailboxes.
    • If you have a message that must be sent to a list, faculty and staff should contact a VP office or Office of the Provost, and students should contact USG. 
    • Major lists include: all College/Benigna/Seminary, all employees, all faculty, all students, all seminary students, all graduate students, class of 20xx lists
    • Alternative Communication Channels: Canvas (for class communication), Moravian App (available for iOS & Android), Website (contact Marketing Department), Google Groups

Community Computer Labs

IT maintains the following campus computing labs:

Main Campus:

  • PPHAC 331 (Windows)
  • Reeves (Mac & Windows)
  • Comenius 101 (Windows)

Hurd Campus:

  • HILL 2nd Floor Resource Room (Mac & Windows) 

Restricted Labs

Certain computing labs are provided for the use of students enrolled in particular programs.

  • PPHAC 114 is the Computer Science department’s lab
  • Art 007 and HILL 309 (both Mac) are for art and graphic design students
  • West Hall 222 (Mac) is for music students Bahnson Center Lab (Windows) is for students of Moravian Theological Seminary

Printing

  • An active network account is required to print.
  • Student or employee must be on wired or MC-Wireless networks. MC-Guest wireless cannot connect to Moravian printers.
  • Locations:
    • Student printing
      • Printers are available for student use in a variety of common areas, including:
        • Rau/Hassler (lower level)
        • HILL (2nd floor resource room & 5th floor)
        • HUB (Pavilion & USG Office)
        • Reeves Library (3 printers available)
        • Brethrens' House (Music Lab 222)
        • Chemistry/Bio/Math/Physics reading rooms
        • PPHAC (112, 113, 331)
        • Benigna Hall (1st floor lounge)
        • Bahnson Center (computer lab)
        • Comenius Hall (101)
    • Employee printing
      • Department printer(s) and MFDs (muti-functional devices including scanner/copier/printer) are located office areas.
  • Printing instructions are different for:
    • device joined to domain (employee MacBook, employee desktop, classroom computer)
    • printing with your non-domain device (personal phone, iPad, student MacBook). Instructions for various devices can be found here and are posted at each printer available for student/non-domain devices.

Data/Ethernet Connections

  • Requests for new ethernet cable wiring and jacks should be submitted to the Help Desk and a quote will be provided. All costs associated with the installation of new ethernet wiring and data jacks will need to be approved by the department head, and an account number must be provided.
