Bethlehem, Pa., May 21, 2015—At Moravian Theological Seminary’s Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 16, the academic awards for the 2014-15 academic year were announced, and those students graduating with honors were recognized for their achievements.

The Cora Doster Moses Memorial Homiletics Prize was awarded to Sue Crawson-Brizzolara, MDiv graduate, for her excellence among the graduates in Homiletics and practical pulpit work.

J. Taylor Hamilton Biblical Language Prize is awarded annually to the student who has done the best work in either Hebrew or Greek. The prize was granted in absentia to Dan Miller, current MDiv student, this year for accomplishment in Hebrew language studies.

The Herman T. Frueauff Memorial Prize was awarded to Frank Shipman, current MDiv student, in recognition of his outstanding work in the field of Moravian Church History, both in class work and research.

The Barbara Martin Stout Prize In Pastoral Counseling was awarded to Tammy Werron, MAPC graduate, for her outstanding academic achievement and professional development in the ministry of pastoral counseling.

The Henry Gerdsen Book Prize was awarded to Sanette Frances, MDiv graduate, in recognition of intellectual, personal, and professional growth, as well as a commitment to involvement in the Seminary community.

The Rev. Elmer Bender Memorial Award was awarded in absentia to Fran Saylor, who earned the Graduate Certificate in Moravian Studies. She is preparing for the ministry of the Moravian Church and exemplifies the qualities of leadership and integrity reflected in the life of Rev. Bender.

The Faculty Academic Prize was awarded to Tammy Werron, MAPC graduate, who maintained a high academic standing and also exemplified superior creative scholarship.

The John David Bishop Memorial Prize was received by Garritt Fleming, MDiv graduate, in recognition of his superior record in scholarship, development of personality suited to the requirement of the Christian ministry, and effective participation in Seminary activities.
