Merck & Moravian University: Developing Talent through Partnership

Students present their work to Merck

Developing Talent through Partnership

Moravian University has made experiential, hands-on learning a strategic goal, and the computer science program has embraced this objective through its partnership with Merck. The senior capstone course and summer research program engage teams of students in immersive projects with experts from Merck, while the internship and co-op programs give students an opportunity to work part-time or full-time for an academic semester.

Graduates of the Moravian University computer science program have become valued employees at Merck, Google, NASA, IBM, and many other cutting-edge technology companies.

“This collaboration creates value using technology and data in Health Science. Students gain career-relevant experience and see how the real-world, technology, and science interact in the global health IT ecosystem.” – Pete Lega, Merck

These projects help students move beyond thinking about technology to understanding the broader context of their work. As a result, when students enter the workforce, they have a head start with the on-boarding process.”  - Ben Coleman, Moravian University
