Phase 1: Explore & Discover
Find Your Program: Exchange vs Affiliate
Exchange Options
Spending a semester or year abroad through an exchange program is a rewarding and affordable option for many students. Students are nominated by their home institution and have the opportunity to Discover, Engage, and Learn at a partner institution. Please note that you must pay Moravian tuition if you would like to be considered and eligible for Moravian University scholarships, grants, and other State/Federal funds.
Programs for Moravian Students
Global exchange programs are a great choice for Moravian students who seek a more independent experience and want to be fully integrated into the local culture. Students have more freedom to plan their own semester activities and excursions and may find a more broad selection of courses through exchange programs. But be aware that some institutions may require visiting international students to take courses in the host language. Want more information? Email studyabroad@moravian.edu or attend an upcoming information session.
Affordability
For global exchange programs, Moravian students pay Moravian University tuition and fees and then become visiting students at an international university. You won't pay room and board charges to Moravian University while on global exchange programs. However, you will pay for housing and meals while abroad in the same way that host students pay.
Please Note: If you are studying abroad with an exchange program, it is your responsibility to obtain a visa. CGE will assist where possible, but most of the coordination will be between you and the exchange university.

Affiliate Options
If you're interested in studying abroad/away with an affiliate program, your first step is to complete a Global Greyhound Travel Profile and then attend a Semester/Summer Abroad Information Session. DO NOT apply for nor contact the affiliate program directly until you have submitted your Global Greyhound Travel Profile, attended a Semester/Summer Abroad Information Session and have met with a member of the Center for Global Education team. The Global Greyhound Profile begins the education abroad process. The affiliate programs may have advisors that will guide you through the process of applying for a visa, registering for the program, important deadlines, and more. Moravian’s Center for Global Education can facilitate a connection with a Moravian peer mentor, “Trailblazer” (students who have studied abroad) so you can get a first-hand account of their experiences!
Passports and Visas
You will be responsible for working with your chosen affiliate program to obtain your visa. You should follow all of their deadlines because they may send passports in groups to the embassy. If your passport is not part of that group package being sent to the embassy for group visa processing, it will be your responsibility to get the visa on your own.
Costs and Scholarships
You must pay Moravian tuition in order to be considered and eligible for Moravian University scholarships, grants, and other State or Federal funds. If you attend an affiliate program, Moravian will pay up to $10,000.00 toward your spring or fall semester (excluding winter and summer terms) educational expenses only. This does not include housing, meals, or expenses that are not educational tuition-based fees. If the program's costs are in excess of $10,000.00, you will be billed directly from the program provider and must pay the difference.
