The Future of Learning Anatomy Starts Here
Pick a Track and Run With It
Students who declare this major choose a career-specific tracks: pre-athletic training/sports medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant/associate, or speech, language, hearing, and swallowing sciences—all of which leave room for electives in disciplines spanning economics to sports psychology.
Tackle the Big Issues
From the beginning of the curriculum through the culminating capstone experience, Health Sciences majors develop the knowledge and skills to navigate today’s complex and evolving healthcare landscape. Students build competencies in interprofessional collaboration and ethical decision-making (HLTR 185 Introduction to Health Professions and HLTR 285 Clinical Observership), cultural responsiveness, and critical appraisal of evidence and the development of relevant research proposals (HLTR 310 Research Methods in Health Sciences). In the senior capstone seminar (HLTR 385 Social Issues in Health Sciences), students bring these skills together as they examine health disparities and current issues impacting individuals, communities, and healthcare teams while developing their skills in advocacy.
Faculty Mentorship, Advising, and Student Leadership
Students are more than a number in the Health Sciences program. We foster a supportive and connected learning community where faculty with diverse healthcare backgrounds provide individualized mentorship and guidance throughout the graduate school preparation process. Throughout coursework and the Rehab Sciences Club, students build meaningful connections and develop professional skills in order to prepare for success in graduate education and healthcare careers.
