WALKING CHALLENGE 2026

MARCH 16 - APRIL 26, 2026

Get walking and get moving with staff, faculty and students as Moravian University hosts their annual inter-campus 6-week Walking Challenge!

WHAT IS THE WALKING CHALLENGE

The Walking Challenge is a six (6) week program that begins March 16, 2026 and ends April 26, 2026. The purpose of the Challenge is to promote active lifestyles while in school, at work, and at home! The goal is for each participant to obtain the most steps possible at the end of each week.

WHY SHOULD YOU PARTICIPATE

Not only will you be able to show off your Greyhound pride, increase your activity throughout the day, but also participating in at least 5 of the 6 weeks qualifies you for a special giveaway!

Need more of a reason - if you are a benefits eligible employee, and participate in at least 5 of the 6 weeks, you qualify for points toward the Healthy Lifestyle Rewards program.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Register using the AMOS form by March 16th to be eligible for prizes. Participants may register at any time during the challenge but will only be eligible for prizes if registered by March 16, 2026.

Beginning March 16, 2026, you will track your steps daily.  Steps can be taken anywhere your feet take you! Every Tuesday of the following week you will enter your total weekly steps in our online portal. Entries must be submitted by Tuesday otherwise they will not count toward the weekly participation.

TRACKING YOUR STEPS:

You can use any pedometer such as Pedusa, a Smartphone app such as Pacer, iSteps Lite, Map My Walk, Pedometer+++, or a Smartwatch such as Fitbit, Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch etc.

At the end of the day you can make note of how many steps you took

STAYING SOCIAL: Motivate each other to get moving by using our hashtag #MoravianWalking!

SET A GOAL AND GO FOR IT!!

DID YOU KNOW…

The average American walks between 2,000 to 3,000 steps per day but is considered to have a sedentary lifestyle? The goal of the Walking Challenge is to take as many steps as possible throughout the week and increase your activity! A general rule of thumb is if you increase your activity at all - such as going from 4,000 steps a day to 5,000 - your overall health will be positively impacted. If you already take 50,000 steps per week, don't stop there - try shooting for 55,000! Wherever you are starting, don’t get discouraged! Let’s get moving!

NATIONAL WALKING DAY 2026
