CURRICULUM

The DPT curriculum in the developing doctor of physical therapy program has been created with the goal of creating DPT generalists able to practice in diverse clinical settings upon graduation. The curriculum embraces active learning principles and immerses students in the clinic early in the program allowing students to apply knowledge and skills in real-life environments. The eight semester program (2.5 years) allows students to learn using a distinctive approach of student-directed learning in a team-based format rather than traditional lectures. Students are able to practice skills in an advanced clinical simulation center incorporating high and low fidelity simulators and standardized patient actors that mimic authentic clinical encounters. With a combination of board certified clinical specialists and doctorally trained faculty, students obtain a world-class education from experts with varied areas of expertise.
