Loving Kindness - Participate

Art

How To Participate In This Exhibition

Who can participate?

We invite art teachers and teachers of other subject areas, museum educators, teaching artists in community settings, youth program leaders, parents and caregivers, even art therapists, to submit works of art created by children and teens, from PreK - grade 12, that relate to the theme of “mindfulness.” We encourage members of the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA) to submit work on behalf of their students. PAEA membership is not required. However, if you are interested in joining, visit:https://www.arteducators.org/promo/join

What type of art will be included?

Art can be made by individual children or teens or collaborative, in any medium: 2D, 3D, sculpture, mobiles, performance art or film, graphic design, digital art, etc. The subject of the work should be related to mindfulness and its related themes such as: Loving-Kindness; Compassion; Community; Happiness; Friendship; Family; Kindness; Fairness; Diversity; Acceptance; Peace; Gratitude; Forgiveness; and Calmness.

If you would like to participate, but need ideas for art lessons, browse this Pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.com/kb3650/mindfulness-and-art/

Is there a cost to submit work?

There is no cost to submit artwork to SlideRoom. Each adult may submit up to 25 photographs of artwork, each file no larger than 5MB.

The only cost you would incur is if your child’s artwork was chosen for the show. You are responsible for shipping or hand-delivering the work to the Gallery and providing postage to return the work to you. Or, you could pick up work in person at the conclusion of the show.

How will jurying be done?

This show is juried. We will likely get more artwork submissions than we can include in the show. Therefore, curators seek work that:

  • is from a range of formats and mediums by a wide range of children ages PreK through age 18, from diverse settings
  • creatively respond to a variety of themes related to mindfulness (listed above)
  • shows children’s authentic expressions (rather than simply following an adult’s instructions)
